Experiencing OneSight

As a lot of you already know, I recently spent a week volunteering for OneSight, giving eye exams and glasses to underprivileged children at a school in Santa Ana.  We had a core team of 26 volunteers chosen from all over the world, to set up the clinic.  Each day local volunteers would join our team, to help give the exams and make the glasses on site.  Throughout the week we had 605 kids come through the clinic, and gave out 553 pairs of glasses, which equates to 91.45% need rate.  It was an eye opening experience to see such poverty in Orange County, only 30 minutes from our own home.  The kids were all so grateful and you could actually see their world open up when they realized they could now see.

I feel blessed to have had this experience and to have been able to offer my time and love to these kids.  I know each of them will be changed from their new gift of sight and it feels good knowing I have helped.
